Free Summer 2026 Reading Programs for Kids
Here are three summer reading programs that your kids can sign up for this summer!
Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program
A fun and easy way for kids in grades 1-6 to earn free books.
- Kids must read a designated number of books and write about their favorite part of the books in their Barnes & Noble Reading Journal.
- They can bring their completed Journal to any Barnes & Noble Bookstore to choose their free book from the books listed on the Reading Journal at a Barnes & Noble store near them during the months of July & August. Redeemable 7/1-8/31.
BOOK IT! offers two programs serving students in Pre-K through 6th grade nationwide.
- Children who meet their reading goals during the summer months of June, July, and August can earn a free one-topping Personal Pan Pizza® each program month.
- Use the BOOK IT! mobile app to set goals, track progress, and redeem awards.
Books-A-Million Summer Reading Adventure
This free program allows kids to choose four books from the official summer reading list.
- Participants track their reading in a logbook and return the completed book to any Books-A-Million store to receive a free prize, while supplies last.
